I didn't know Steve in high school even though I have tried and tried to remember him. We became friends when I returned to Ohio, right before his cancer was discovered. The thing I remember most about that time is how strong he was during treatment and how much he loved his wife and kids. He fought till the end always thinking of their future and welfare. Only being 40 it was the first funeral of a friend I had attended and the saddest.
I didn't know Steve in high school either but I ran into him after he had cancer. His niece and son were great friends with my daughter Brandi. Brandi and Erika were in Color Guard and his son was in the band, they were such good friends, we always hung out together whenever the kids were at the football games, Steve was a wonderful father and husband and good friend to everyone. I miss him greatly, no suffering my friend all the pain is gone now god speed....
