Anne and Jim kept in touch with me regularly. I never knew about the depression though. Jim is an artist and showed a piece at the Springfield Museum of Art when I worked there. We had a lovely evening at the opening.

Dear Jim, Thinking of Ann. i can feel the loss of her in my heart. it is suprising after all of these years of not knowing someone that the joyful memories of knowing them are stronger from within than the seperation or loss.  The summer before our junior year Marsha M, Rae Lynn P, Ann and I shared every sunny day at the officer's club pool and working out in the womans gym during the 10 minute swimm breaks, diving flips on that incredible spring diving board. We became lifeguards together with Nat C. We had the best carefree summer full of teenage joys. I have always figured we are not promised to know each other all the day of our lives, to treasure the memories like a precious relic on the shore of enlightenment, aka a beautiful sea shell on the beach. I will always be grateful for the wonderful friendship we shared that summer.... and how beautiful she and Judy L looked with their fathers in full dress uniform at their debutant coming out ceremony, riding to school everyday with her and Holly E. our junior year, riding home from school with Bill C and Judy L, a car full of laughter...... yes, I am thinking of Ann, and remembering what a beautiful special person she was.... God Bless You and your family. Much Love, Shelley (Michelle Mancuso)
