Jerry Flatter

Gerald D. "Jerry" Flatter, age 71 of Fairborn passed away Friday October 6, 2023. He was born November 10, 1951 in Xenia, the son of the late Harold and Ruth (Thompson) Flatter. Jerry was a lifelong grain farmer and cattleman, a member of the American Hereford Association, Ohio Cattlemen's Association and past president for two terms of the Buckeye Hereford Association. Jerry very much enjoyed exhibiting and showing Hereford cattle at all levels of competition. He and his family exhibited numerous champions on the state and national levels under Flatter Hereford Farms over many years. Jerry also liked having all kinds of trucks, CASE IH and New Holland Farm Equipment and riding Kawasaki motorcycles. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Singleton; and brother-in-law, Chester Cooper. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; son, Wyatt Flatter; two daughters, Julie (Marc) Coppess, Amber Warder; sister, Judith Cooper; niece, Brandee (Josh) Naff; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; close friends, Gene and Vickie Hitchcock; as well as extended family and friends. Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held on Thursday October 12, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral will be held on Friday October 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Eric Meade officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
