James D. “Jim” Roby, 71, of Fairborn, OH, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 7, 1952, in Lima, OH, the son of the late Herman and Jean (Harsh) Roby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Dixie and Denval Gilliam; and son-in-law, John (FHS-00) Howard. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shirley; daughter, Kelly Howard; son, Brian Roby (Nikki and her children: Noah, Connor, Eli, and Kilee); grandchildren: Marley, Savannah, and Braylee; brother, Tommy (Teri) Roby; two sisters, Cheryl Morrison and Sue (Mike) Barnes; life-long friend, Kurt Hussong; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Jim was a family man who loved spending time with wife, children, and grandchildren. He was able to fix anything and everything that he encountered. Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, swimming, and going on vacations.
