I didn't know Debbie in high school. However, a few years later, I worked with her little sister Tammy, and Debbie babysat for Tammy's little girl Brooke. I would pick up Tammy for work (yes, we carpooled) and take little Brooke to be with Aunt Debbie. Debbie had two little girls of her own. They were adorable. During this time of my life I saw Debbie nearly every day. My heart breaks for Tammy and her other sister and all the kids.

Debbie's smile is something I remember as a very kind girl.  She could have been sitting across an isle of our desks as I was an H and she was a D.  For hours and hours and days upon days we spent time together learning growing living wondering and honestly excited about the days to come.  In school it was a comfortable place when folks like Debbie's smile may have made the difference to me as to a good day or a bad day.  I was never on time and I think I probably knew most folk when I had to have detention.  I pray for Debbie's family as it is never easy to let go of those we love.  I think this may be a lesson we are to learn and appreciate those moments when we get to spend an hour or two as they are fleeting.  I pray the Lord will comfort and bless you all.  I am so sorry another one of us has fallen from our tree - one leaf at a time.  (((Hugs)))  Diana

I do not know all the details, and I don't like to gossip, but it's my understanding that Debbie died from complications of an infection following surgery.
